Fight or Flight

Fight Or Flight

 Psalms 120:1

“In my distress I cried unto the Lord and he heard me”

As soon as the heat is turned up in our lives we turn to the world for pacifying.

Some find this comfort in drinking, watching pornography ,listening to negative or  depressing secular music or sleeping their life away when depression takes a hold of them BUT as Christians if we claim that the JESUS we serve has the power we say he has and the authority  we so boldly profess to the world then we as Christians ought to turn to him when all hell is breaking loose in our lives and not to the world for comfort.

Easier said than done right? Its true Ive been there and truthfully I’m still there. Sometimes I do find myself turning to secular things for comfort when I feel like God is ignoring my crys. Worldly things however profits nothing, it fills the void for a little while and then your left empty again–searching for something–searching for GOD.

Certain attacks in life are God sent to catapult you to the next level but sometimes the test will  cause you to question certain areas of your life.

Naturally as human we tend to retreat when were being attacked but if you’ve been asking to go to the next level this year you may need to reconsider your method
Ask yourself  this question will I Fight or will I Flee.

Secular pursuits will do nothing but DRAG you to hell with YOUR despairs.

The enemy doesn’t care about the PRESSURES of life or how high the heat is turned up. He only wants to sit back and observe how you will handle the conflict.

Satan is an accuser of the brethren which means his job is to scrutinize our lives and report back to God when our actions are contrary to the manuscript we should be following—the bible. He will sit back and point a finger at us when were not holding up our end of the bargain, he gets a high off of our failures and because we know this we should not give him the satisfaction.

When we experience excessive stress whether from internal worry or external circumstance a bodily reaction is triggered, called the “fight or flight” response

The term  describes a mechanism in the body that enables us humans or animals to mobilize a lot of energy rapidly in order to cope with threats to survival.

If were overwhelmed and feel like were in a hopeless battle we tend to remove ourselves from the equation or in other words FLIGHT but if we see any value in what were trying to obtain or recover we will stand our grounds persevere and FIGHT.

The question you should ask yourself tonight is when trouble continues to arise in my life will I FIGHT or will I FLIGHT. Will I retreat andrn to the worlds advances for  direction or pacifying or will I stand firm and lift my eyes up unto Christ whom my help and livelihood resides from?

Wherever this may be applicable in your life today you have to make the decision for yourself…How bad do you want this and are you willing to stay in the ring and FIGHT?

Hebrews 10:23

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful”

Exercising Faith

Jesus replied saying Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”    Matthew 17:

Faith is like a muscle it needs to be exercised daily or it will lose its effectiveness

Faith is like a muscle it needs to be exercised daily or it will lose its effectiveness

I wish I could fast forwarded my life to get a glimpse of where God is taking me, I mean if God can show us what will become of us in the next few years wouldn’t that be great. It certainly would save ME  from a lot of bad decisions and wrong turns IM destined to make along the way.

In this I could avoid bringing temporary people into MY space or avoid some choices that will have a negative lasting factor on MY live. If God did that for us it would be great… but wouldn’t that also be  boring and  predictable …What lessons could life teach us if we knew or could predict everything that it  had to offer. How could faith play any part if we had no need to exercise it and how confident would we be in God if we didn’t have to rely on him for each step or decision we had to make.

The truth is God wants us to lean on him daily at every waking moment of our lives, he wants us to rely on him with our hope for tomorrow, he wants us to exercise and gain faith unparalleled (never seen or experienced before) because without it its not possible to please him.) We exercise to improve our heart health and we lift weights to build and tone our muscles.  But what about our spiritual walk, what about building spiritual muscles

What do we do to stay hopeful, encouraged, and faithful when it seems as if life is taking on a rollercoaster ride. Truth is faith is like a muscle you need to exercise it daily to keep it active because if you don’t it will gradually decline in its effectiveness If you have ever broken a leg and been unable to use it for a time, you will know that you need to work hard to rebuild the muscle that has been weakened by prolonged inactivity.

The physiotherapist will work with you to rebuild what has been lost through lack of use and eventually you will be able to walk on your own again. In the same way Jesus (the object of our faith) has assured us that exercising our faith is crucial in order to walk along side him, he said to us if we have faith even as small as a mustard seed its enough to move any obstacle in our lives.

The mustard seed is a very small seed but once watered the plant grows to a remarkable LARGE size in comparison to the original mustard seed. The more we exercise our faith is more it  grows within us  and produces  remarkable results. It is not the quantity of faith you have but the quality of faith (confidence) you have in God and God’s Word

It matters not how large or small  Your faith may seem to be; What really counts is WHOM you trust In life’s uncertainty. —Fitzhugh

I wont allow m…

I wont allow my joy to be based on my circumstances because the enemy will mess with the elements of my circumstances to get to my joy. He can’t steal your joy but he can stir up trouble that might. In everything I’m trying to remain positive always hopeful.. I rather be a slave to hope …than a slave to depression/disappointments
Isaiah 40:31

King James Version (KJV)

31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Contentment in the Will of God

                                                        I am Content……….

There were quite a few moments in my life where I sat down with self, reflected and mourned over what was and what is.

I thought of the things I should of, could have and would have done to prevent myself from going down certain avenues in my life

But godliness with contentment is great gain for with contentment comes peace and with peace comes surety.

For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain that we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be content– 1Timothy 6:6-7

I wouldn’t say that I’m independent but simply self reliant. I’ve learned to motivate my own smiles and rely on my own thought

I’ve maintained thoughts of greatness in the midst of dilemmas that could have crumbled my dreams and crippled my thinking.

I seen people Ive helped and mentored get ahead while my setbacks kept me chained until Jesus spoke to  me saying…..

Let not your heart envy sinners: but be you in the fear of Yahweh all the day long. For surely there is an end; and your expectation shall not be cut off. – Proverbs 23:17-18

Now I’ve found a place of confidence and serenity within myself as I privately commune with God and rest in his assurance his perfect will.

Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatever state I am in to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: everywhere and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. – Philippians 4:11-13

I am learning to trust God based on who he is, it is not my place to understand the will of God but it is my purpose to trust and obey him in whatever state I am in.

It takes maturity to accept the will of God, in the end thy kingdom come and thy will, will be done and his will is perfect fit for our lives

Let your conduct be without covetousness; and be content with what you have for He has said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you. – Hebrews 13:5

Taming the Tongue

I shouldn’t have said that…right?

Lord that little unruly member of my body has gotten me in trouble again. Taming my tongue has become a very challenging  act.

Your word says that no man can tame the tongue and it is an uncontrollable evil full of deadly poison. Sometimes we use it to praise you and sometimes we use it to hurt others who are made in your image.

Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.

When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.(James 3:1-7)

Forgive us lord for not controlling our tongue or not allowing you to control it, teach us how to stop pray and think before we speak. Words are a powerful thing, they give us the power to heal and the power to hurt.

The power to give hope and the power to discourage. The power to build up and the power to tear down

Help us to realize that even though we are not able to tame our tongues the things that are impossible with man are possible with you because our words are verbalization of our thoughts7For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.-Prov 23:7

Today we submit our thoughts to you. Help us to dwell on whatever things are true, honest, just , pure, lovely and of good report.  In Jesus name Amen

Stability in the Storm

ImageMy storms brought stability in my life…

Storms are not bad ,they are created to build character and integrity, they remove the unstable and bring stability.

Without storms we would become too complacent, too comfortable with our daily living .

Jesus was the cause of the storm after all, not the enemy….

God stirred up alot of things in my life because stormy weather causes change and changes can be rough.

He moved me from one job to another, one environment to an other , he got rid of people in my life that I should have removed a long time ago, he took me out of my comfort zone, but in the end it was all for my good.

Stormy weather can cause fear…

In Matthew 14:22-33 is the story of Peter walking on the water, to set the scene, a storm came up while the disciples were in a ship and they were afraid when they saw Jesus walking on the water toward them.

Jesus told them who he was.- Take courage ! It is I -(Matthew 14:27)

Peter ,one of the disciples walked on the water towards him at first but when his eyes  averted from Jesus  he looked around and saw the storm. He was afraid.

Maybe your experiencing a storm in your life and its  natural to be afraid  but  Jesus has not left us alone, he sent his Holy Spirit to be with us and help us to trust him through the storms of life.

In this Ive learned to trust in Jesus, Im growing in my relationship with him ,trusting him a little more and more each day.

When the big storms arrive ,I will not be afraid because I know hes paving the way and he will be the  peace in the storm for me.

Matthew 8:23-27

Jesus Calms the Storm

23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.

25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”

26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”

Jesus is the weather man, he predicts the forecast and he creates different climates for specific seasons in our lives.

He knows whats best for us and in the end everything that can be shaken…will be shaken for our good
